Your Routine Shouldn't Negotiate With Your Mood

Watch any elite athlete before a free throw. Same bounce count, same breath, same release. Every time. Doesn't matter if they're up twenty or down twenty, well-slept or exhausted. The routine doesn't ask permission from their mood.
Now watch yourself before a board call or a founder pitch. You prep hard when you're nervous, you wing it when you're confident, you skip the warmup entirely when you're slammed. That's not inconsistency. That's an absence of standard.
The fix: Build one identical 10-minute sequence you run before every high-stakes interaction this week. Same three questions reviewed, same notes format, same five minutes of silence before you walk in. No exceptions for "I've got this one."
Motivation is unreliable. A routine run on autopilot is not. Decide it once. Stop deciding it daily.
